French fishing for Carp, Catfish & Sturgeon
Faqs
WHAT IS THE BEST BAIT TO USE..?
The bait that has produced the most fish this year (2005) has been 21mm Halibut pellets but good quality boillies have also worked well fished over a bed of Carp pellets.

IS THERE A LIMIT ON THE AMOUNT OF TACKLE I CAN TAKE..?
There is no limit to the amount of tackle that you bring.

DOES THE PRICE OF THE TICKET INCLUDE THE USE OF ONSITE FACILITIES..?
Yes the price of a fishing ticket includes the use of all the onsite facilities, You may need some euros for drinks and food in the bar.

WILL I BE ABLE TO GET BREAD AND MILK ON SITE..?
The bailiff will go to the shops every day and can get most things for you e.g. bread, milk, fags etc.

CAN YOU GUARANTEE THAT I WILL CATCH FISH..?
Unfortunately i cannot guarantee that you will catch fish not with Carp being Carp. A lake in France is much the same as in England and the fishing changes from day to day, But so far after 7 years no one has ever blanked on a weeks fishing.

HOW FAR AWAY IS THE NEAREST TOWN..?
The closest village is about 5 minutes drive away and sells most necessities, About 20 minutes drive away you will find a larger town which has a supermarket, Bars, restaurants etc.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED THE LAKES..?
I have owned the lakes in France for 7 years and during this time we have made lots of improvements and stocked tonnes of fish. I have owned the lakes in England for 12 years.

IS THE FREE MAIZE READY TO USE..?
The maize that we supply has been prepared ready for you to use.

WILL I GET A SIGNAL ON MY MOBILE PHONE..?
When you are at the lake yes you will get a signal on your mobile phone but you don't always get a signal in the bar because the walls are about 18" thick and made of granite.

I DON'T LIKE STURGEON HOW CAN I AVOID CATCHING THEM?
The best way to avoid Sturgeon is when you start to catch them stop the use of loose feed for awhile and they will move away, Maize used to be a bait that the Sturgeon never liked but people do sometimes catch Sturgeon now using maize. Also avoid using any meet based baits.

IS MAIZE STILL THE BEST BAIT THIS YEAR?
Maize is no longer the best bait as i think it has been used to much people seem to get the best results using good quality boilies fished over a bed of mixed pellets and maize.

ARE THERE ANY SMALL FISH IN THE LAKE?
The water quality here is very good and also because we have a oxygenating system to keep the fish feeding in the hot summer months the fish keep spawning like mad. We keep introducing more Catfish, Pike and perch to keep the spawn down but like any good lake the strong small fish will survive resulting in a few fish being caught around the 8 - 10lb mark.

HOW MUCH BAIT SHALL I BRING?
We would recommend that you bring at least 5kg of boilies per person and 10kg of pellet but if the fish really start to feed then you would need double that amount.
You should remember that a 30lb Carp can eat 2kg of food in a day no problem, We supply maize to use as a blanket feed but this works best if mixed with some form of pellet. If the fish are feeding and you don't keep the bait going in then they will move to a swim where they are being fed.

IN YOUR RULES IT DOESN'T MENTION THE USE OF KLIN-IK OR OTHER CARP MED'S?
The reason for this is that i believe anybody that is prepared to travel to France to catch Carp will already know how important these products are and have them in there tackle box already.

WHY HAVE YOU BANNED SPINNERS?
The main reason for this is that lots of people have been foul hooking Carp in the fins while fishing for Trout and Pike.

WHAT IS THE BEST BAIT FOR CATFISH?
The Catfish seem to keep changing there minds one day liver is the best then boilies but the best bait over the years is dead Roach or Rudd, These can be caught here very easily just bring a few maggots. So far this year 2006 most catfish have been caught on halibut pellets.

YOU SAY MAIZE IS FREE BUT IN THE LATEST NEWS YOU SAY DON'T USE TO MUCH?
The reason for this is that some people our using loads of maize in one day (which i don't mind as it is feeding my fish) and it kills there swim as maize doesn't dissolve and it will stay there until it is eaten it is best to start slow and when the fish feed start to throw in more, At the end of the day I don't care how much maize you throw in you are doing me a favour ? But I want you to catch fish so I recommend you start feeding carefully at first.
